In 2013 the Town of Vincent engaged Blackwell & Associates to undertake an analysis and design for the upgrade of the Leederville Town Centre. Leederville has established a reputation as one of Perth’s foremost “passive recreation / entertainment” precincts. We worked closely with a Project Working Group made up of passionate community members, Councillors and local council staff to come up with an integrated plan aimed at significantly raising all aspects of the precinct. A large shaded seating area was proposed to replace a small car park north of the existing park.

This provided the opportunity for a variety of users but particularly parents to enjoy a coffee whilst looking over the adjacent new feature playground. Proposed areas of raised turf offer great places to sit and eat lunch whilst the southern end of the park provided urban play spaces including chess, table tennis and boules. Materials were in keeping with the existing character including removing the existing pavers and using them in proposed retaining walls.
